The Love Loaves Gallery

The Saint HonoreThe popularity of real bread, baked fresh every day using wholesome ingredients and delivered still piping hot, initially surprised us.   When BBC Oxford and BBC Radio Oxford both picked up the story, and the ‘mini-bakery’ featured on the local evening news, we realised  the response was about more than bread alone. There is huge enthusiasm for reviving one of the oldest English village traditions, that of the village bakery  – no matter how tiny.  (As there’ s no room for the traditional icon in our bakery, we’ve put this picture of Saint Honore, the patron saint of bakers, on the right.)  Bread inspires people on a very fundamental level.  Not the water-injected, pumped-up pap you get from the local petrol station, but real, hand-baked, individually-crafted loaves made by people who love them too!

We are both proud to be part of Wolvercote village life in this simple and time-honoured way.
